$5500 FOR THE JANEWAY TELETHON

NORTH ATLANTIC’S SAFE WORK PRACTICES GENERATE $5,500 FOR THE JANEWAY TELETHON

(Sunday, June 7, 2010) North Atlantic and its employees donated $5,500 to the Janeway, during the hospital’s annual fundraiser telethon. This year's donation draws from North Atlantic’s Safety for Charity fund, and direct from employee payroll deductions.

“Because of our employees’ outstanding safety performance, this year's Safety for Charity fund is at an all-time-high. For each day that we work injury-free, our company deposits funds into a charity account. These funds are then donated to charity twice a year. Since 2001, our Safety for Charity fund has donated nearly $40,000 to the Janeway Children’s Hospital,” says Gloria Warren Slade, North Atlantic’s communication manager.

About North Atlantic:
Since 1994, more than ONE-BILLION-DOLLARS in upgrades and new equipment have been invested in the oil refinery. Together, these investments and their employees’ well-demonstrated commitment to safety continue to help ensure the safety of its people and the integrity of the entire operation.

At North Atlantic, 500 employees make and market some of the cleanest fuels in the world for customers here in the province and those around the world.

As a major player in the local oil industry, North Atlantic contributes $160 million a year direct to the provincial economy — that’s $60 million in employee wages and benefits and $100 million in local business procurement.

In addition, the company gives another half million dollars a year to local charities and fundraisers, and direct community support.
