Marketing Specialist

North Atlantic’s fuel marketing and distribution division is looking for an experienced Marketing Specialist to fill two primary roles on the marketing team. First and foremost, the successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the execution of North Atlantic’s social media strategy and day-to-day monitoring of the company’s social networks. In many respects, you will be the voice of our brands, including Yay! Rewards and Orangestore. Second, reporting to the Marketing Manager, the Marketing Specialist helps to plan and execute major marketing projects – including advertising, promotions, and events – across North Atlantic’s various brands, products, and departments.

Responsibilities

Social Media

  • Manage North Atlantic’s social media strategy and execution across multiple networks, including Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn.
  • Lead social media strategy, planning, monitoring, and measurement.
  • Engage – start conversations, listen for mentions, respond to feedback, and escalate when necessary.
  • Create and maintain content strategies and calendars.
  • Manage budgets and spending.
  • Create/curate and post content (this will include photography, collaborating with designers and product partners, and advance scheduling/strategy).
  • Create/execute contests and promotions.
  • Provide monthly analytics and reporting.
  • Stay current with trends and help evolve social media marketing.
  • Monitor and manage the governance of social media across the retail network.
  • Manage online listings (e.g., Google, Foursquare, YP.ca, Bing).

General Marketing

  • Help plan and carry out major marketing projects, including advertising, promotions, sponsorships, and events.
  • Coordinate in-store monthly POS signage for the Orangestore and North Atlantic retail network, from promotional pricing to signage delivery and placement.
  • Oversee involvement in all events, including trade shows, community events, etc.
  • Help measure and analyze marketing results and effectiveness.
  • Assist with day-to-day marketing activities.
  • Ensure brand consistency across the retail network.
  • Monitor and organize corporate social responsibility (CSR) requests and brief committee on key opportunities on a regular basis.
  • Research, write, and distribute the quarterly newsletter; assist management team with internal communications as needed.
  • Help monitor competitor and market activity.
  • Help carryout research initiatives, including surveys and focus groups.
  • Other duties as required.

Qualifications

You are passionate about marketing, particularly digital marketing and social media. You are a terrific writer, storyteller, and a real “people person.” You understand the importance of being on-brand. You can make sound judgment calls under pressure, and you are definitely unfazed by online trolls. You are a great planner and project manager – organized, focused, punctual, and great at prioritizing – things rarely slip through the cracks for you.

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in marketing, communications, or PR.
  • 3+ years’ experience in a marketing position with social media focus.
  • Exceptional knowledge of current social media tools, reporting, and best practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to make sound judgments under pressure.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in retail marketing is considered an asset.
  • Car and driver’s license.
