Computer Support Specialist

Reporting to the I.T. Supervisor, the successful incumbent will be a self-starter, highly motivated individual who can work in a team environment taking independent action and proactively create opportunities to resolve or prevent problems. He/she will be a good problem solver with self-confidence and have a strong desire to help others with their needs.

Task and Responsibilities

  • Perform help desk and network support for the corporate office in St. John’s, satellite offices and retail operations across the province
  • Perform support for North Atlantic’s truck fleet of oil/propane mobile delivery solution
  • Work with minimal direction and exercise strong initiative, judgment and confidentiality
  • Provide advice and end-user training
  • Other duties determined by I.T. Supervisor

Qualifications

  • Two-to-Three years’ experience in an IT support role
  • Successful completion of post-secondary degree/diploma in Computer Science or related field at a recognized academic institution
  • Knowledge of hardware/software and multifunction device troubleshooting
  • Knowledge of Windows 10/8/7/XP and Windows Server 2012 / 2008 / 2003 is required
  • Experience with Apple iPhone and iOS
  • Knowledge of Meraki routers, switches, and access points would be considered an asset
  • Basic knowledge of SQL, Citrix, Hosted Exchange, VMWare, HyperV, N-Able, and Active Directory would be beneficial
  • Familiarity with networking – Dynamic DNS/DNS, Client VPN/Site-Site VPN, Static/Dynamic IP, SFTP
  • Knowledge of Lectrocount Meters would be a benefit
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; highly organized with an ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Flexibility in schedule is required, with the ability to travel within the province as necessary
